YMCA of Metropolitan Chattanooga
Campers who successfully complete the Ocoee CIT (Counselors-in-Training) program are eligible to become Ocoee Ambassadors (OARs). This prestigious role offers teens the opportunity to return to camp for an extended period of time, at no cost (non-paid). As OARs, they volunteer in various aspects of camp life, including program development, facility upkeep, Christian ministry, camper mentoring, and community service. OARs work closely with camp administration, gaining valuable experience by being placed in a cabin group with younger campers. They assist counselors with the day-to-day care of the campers and help facilitate the camp experience. Throughout their time at camp, OARs receive continuous feedback on how to refine their leadership and counseling skills. At the end of their experience, they are given an evaluation to assess their readiness to serve as future staff members at Camp Ocoee. To be considered for the Ocoee Ambassador program, please complete the application provided below. This opportunity allows teens to grow in their leadership abilities while contributing meaningfully to the camp community.
